Coastal flooding inflicts tens of billions of dollars in damage annually, with climate change compounding risks through rising sea levels and evolving storm patterns. Evaluating these threats typically requires time-consuming specialist effort to link meteorological and ocean dynamics to inundation and socio-economic impact models.
This webinar introduces a Coastal Flood Risk Analysis service built within the IRISCC and D4Science Virtual Research Environments. By integrating open-source models (D-HYDRO, SFINCS, and FIAT) into interactive Jupyter and Solara workflows, the service allows users to build, run, and compare climate and adaptation scenarios without relying on local computational resources.
Combining climate forcing data from ECMWF (including ERA5) with Copernicus, EMODnet, and OpenStreetMap datasets, the service provides a transferable global solution to support resilience planning, infrastructure investments, and emergency preparedness.
