The IRISCC access programme is a key pillar of the project, designed to facilitate cross-RI service provision to cutting-edge research infrastructures (RIs) for addressing climate change risks. This document describes the first version of the strategic IRISCC access programme. The programme will facilitate the provision of transnational (TA) and virtual (VA) access to cross-disciplinary services provided by 14 European RIs, supporting climate risk assessment and societal resilience. Structured around three service releases, it evolves from single-RI services to integrated, co-designed knowledge services.
Seven thematic TA-VA calls promote interdisciplinary research on climate change risks, spanning hazards, exposure, and vulnerability. In its initial phase, five calls are linked to the first release of IRISCC’s catalogue of services, with the first open-topic call and a fast-track continuous call in April 2025. The programme includes priority access for urgent needs and Ukrainian users.
With targeted outreach and financial support, it engages research communities, policymakers, EU consortia, commercial users, and societal stakeholders. The access strategy, updated four times during the project (Months 16, 26, 34 and 36), ensures optimal planning, implementation and continuous improvement of the access programme, fostering scientific excellence and evidence-based decision-making.
