IRISCC Training Opportunity: Learn DIVAnd — Online & Onsite

Co-organised by IRISCC and ULiège

IRISCC is pleased to invite you to a two-part training series on DIVAnd (Data-Interpolating Variational Analysis in n dimensions), a tool for interpolating irregularly spaced observations onto regular grids. Widely used in oceanography and environmental sciences, DIVAnd enables researchers to generate smooth, continuous fields from in situ measurements while accounting for complex constraints such as topography.

This training series is designed for researchers working with spatial data who wish to build confidence in using DIVAnd—from basic Julia commands to advanced analyses using their own datasets.

Part 1 – Online DIVAnd Webinar

8 December 2025 | 14:00–15:00 CET

Get an introduction to the DIVAnd software, its capabilities, and typical workflows.
Open to the entire IRISCC community and beyond.

Register  (deadline: 7 December 2025, 23:59 CET)

Part 2 – Onsite DIVAnd Training (3 days)

20–22 January 2026
Campus Sart Tilman, University of Liège, Belgium

A hands-on, in-depth training hosted by the University of Liège and supported by IRISCC. Participants will learn to:

  1. Run basic Julia commands

  2. Prepare input files for DIVAnd

  3. Perform analyses using DIVAnd

  4. Visualise outputs

  5. Execute more advanced and complex analyses
    …all using their own datasets.

Who should apply: Researchers using in situ data who need to perform spatial interpolation.
Capacity: Maximum 20 participants.

Register (deadline: 14 December 2025, 23:59 CET)

Selected participants will be informed by 14 December.
