IRISCC took part in the EGU General Assembly 2026, held from 3–8 May in Austria Center Vienna, contributing to a vibrant programme of scientific exchange and community engagement.
With over 22,000 researchers attending, EGU26 once again provided a unique platform to connect with the global geoscience community and showcase how research infrastructures can support climate and environmental research.
IRISCC was represented at the joint ENVRI community booth, where partners came together to present services, share knowledge, and engage with visitors.

The booth reflected a strong community spirit across environmental research infrastructures, creating a welcoming space for discussion and collaboration. Visitors had the opportunity to:
- Learn about IRISCC services and activities
- Explore integrated approaches to climate and environmental risk research
- Connect with experts from across the ENVRI community
- Discover opportunities for collaboration and future developments
Contributions to key scientific sessions
IRISCC and its partners contributed to several sessions addressing climate risks, data integration, and cross-infrastructure collaboration, including:
- Fostering harmonised access across environmental research infrastructures
- Supporting climate change risk assessment using multi-RI data
- Driving climate risk insights for finance and insurance sectors
These sessions highlighted the importance of coordinated access to data and services, as well as the growing role of research infrastructures in supporting decision-making across sectors.
Engaging a global research community
Participation in EGU26 offered an excellent opportunity to engage directly with a large and diverse research audience, exchange ideas, and strengthen collaborations across domains.
From insightful discussions at the booth to high-quality scientific contributions, IRISCC’s presence at EGU26 demonstrated the value of working together across research infrastructures to address complex climate and environmental challenges.
