Access the Services You Need to Tackle Climate Risks

The IRISCC project is building a new model for how researchers and practitioners can access world-class services to support climate risk and resilience work. Through a coordinated Access Programme, IRISCC brings together services from leading European Research Infrastructures (RIs), supporting work across natural hazards, exposure and vulnerability, and disaster risk management.
Following the strong response to the first Call for Access, selected projects will soon begin using IRISCC services. Preparations are now underway for the second call, expected to open in September 2025. The next call will build on lessons learned from the first round, with updated guidelines and opportunities for new users.
How it works
IRISCC offers two types of access:
- Transnational Access (TA) – for users who need to physically access experimental facilities, labs, or observation sites across Europe. Eligible costs may be partially supported.
- Virtual Access (VA) – for users who need remote access to datasets, modelling tools, or computational services hosted by participating RIs.
While VA services can be accessed directly through the VA portal, the TA access has to be granted after application submission. All applications go through a centralised, peer-reviewed evaluation process. The system is designed to be simple, fair, and efficient: you apply once, and IRISCC coordinates with service providers.
Why apply?
The Access Programme supports:
- Services tailored to climate risk science, impact analysis, and adaptation planning
- Interdisciplinary opportunities linking environmental data, exposure models, and vulnerability studies
- A growing network of experts and infrastructures working together toward climate resilience
- Continuously open Fast-track options for urgent applications, including for Ukrainian users
What’s next
The second call will be launched in autumn 2025, subject to approval by the project’s Executive Board. More details, including updated eligibility criteria and available services, will be announced on the IRISCC website.
Stay tuned for updates — and get ready to access the tools and services you need to tackle climate risk.
